Nice location for me.
Bed was hard as a rock and I had trouble sleeping.
You get what you pay for when looking for a cheap hotel in New York but with the Alexander you get a bit more. A clean room, friendly staff and an excellent location. The subway is only 1,5 blocks away and after a 5 minute ride with the 2 or 3 express train you're at Times Square. For only a $130,- a night it's a bargain for New York standards. Really recommend this hotel for everyone.
The only small complaint you could have is the noise at night. All those air conditioners make a lot of noise but it's really the only small bad thing and something that goes for most hotels anyway.
Good position to visit the city.optimal distance to metro stop.
Room's window gave on another building thus rendering the ro very dark
Rooms were clean, had air con and a comfy bed so was perfect for our trip. Staff we also friendly and knowledgeable.
a hassle free, extremely pleasant experience. the hotel itself needs attention, its a bit tattty but the rooms are great - big and clean. I intend to stay there again.
hallway decor needs to be replaces. old. shabby.
Closed to subway station
The toilet was shaking and making noises. The cleaning lady was laying the sheet and cover on the floor before making the bed. The carpet was dirty.
For an NYC-Center-Hotel very nice, comfortable, new renovated and big rooms! Private bathroom was kinda stylish! Location: 2 min. Walk to the subway, nice breakfast places very close to the hotel! Perfect hotel if you wanna be in Manhattan, but in a quiet location during the night!
No breakfast, loud, crazy neighbors in the opposite house
Nice sized room and helpful staff.
Internet connection convenient, the staff weren't too bad.
Room was a bit on the small side, the hotel could do with a make over. Looks much nicer on the advertisement than it actually is. Overated on price, the hostel around the corner looked nicer.
Location is great, very close to the subway for travelling down Broadway. Breakfast serving coffiee shops and a grocery shop less than 5 min walk away. Hotel staff very nice, room was clean.
It was 94°F (34°C) in New York and the air conditioning system in the room made a lot of noise (but worked very well). The website of the hotel is not great and email communication before arrival was not optimal.
Good welcome by staff. Next to red line subway which goes directly to downtown. Quite street. Close to Broadway (shops, restaurants, starbucks, Central Park). Clean room with modern bathroom. Free Wifi in the common room.
No safe in the room. No breakfast included.
Solid, clean, no frills, good value in excellent neighborhood.
Close to subway
No internet, high price, noisily, in room with share bathroom no air condition
I have stayed at hotel Alexander for 11 nights , which I have to say was not the most pleasant stay I could have imagined . I booked the hotel early on so unfortunately there was no way of changing it when we go there .The front desk staff seem to be as clueless as ever , there was no wifi through out entire stay ( as we were on a business related trip this was an extreme inn ) even after a phone call was made to the manager of the hotel , we received to no reply to out complaint . On the plus side , the rooms were cleaned very well every day .unfortunately our room seemed to be under constructions as there was an extra small room being turned into a bathroom. The location of the hotel was good ( 96th subway) Overall , although the price was not too high , I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for more then 3 days .
The location of this hotel is wonderful. It is only one and a half blocks from a subway station, in a residential neighborhood. A quick walk to Broadway puts you in the middle of lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. And it is a quick train ride to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, and museums. I don't mind sharing the bathroom to get the cheaper rate, the bathroom was always clean and we didn't have a problem getting in to shower. Some people might be uncomfortable with sharing a bathroom.
The bed was very firm and not comfortable. Also, the hallways were noisy. We could hear people closing room doors, closing the bathroom door, and talking fairly often.
